frequently asked questions

general questions

Is access to the shows free?

The shows at Place d’Youville, as well as most of the events offered, are free of charge. However, access to the VIP area and some specific activities require a fee. Be sure to check the full program for more details.

When does Quebec City Pride take place?

This year, Quebec City Pride will be held from August 28 to 31, 2025. The official kickoff takes place at Place d’Youville on Friday, August 29, starting at 17h.

Who organizes Quebec City Pride?

The event is organized by the Alliance Arc-en-ciel de Québec, a community organization dedicated to advocating for the rights and visibility of sexually and gender-diverse people.

In 2025, the Alliance has teamed up with Carnaval de Québec as a co-organizing partner. Carnaval is assisting with ticketing, logistics, partnerships, and programming, while the Alliance remains in charge of the community aspect, communications, and volunteer coordination.

Why doesn’t Quebec City Pride take place in June during Pride Month?

Pride isn’t limited to just one month — we can be proud at any time of year. In Québec City, the Labor Day weekend (first weekend of September) has become an anticipated annual gathering for 2SLGBTQ+ communities and their allies.

on-site accessibility

Are dogs allowed on site?

Leashed dogs are welcome at Place d’Youville.

Is the site accessible to people with reduced mobility?

Yes. An accessible area is set up near Palais Montcalm. It can be reached from outside the main site, just like if you were driving to the Palais Montcalm. On site, you’ll find an accessible restroom and a shared bar service with the VIP area.

Is Quebec Sign Language (LSQ) interpretation available?

Please write to us at info@arcencielquebec.ca to confirm availability depending on which events you plan to attend.

Are the shows at Place d’Youville open to people under 18?

Absolutely! All outdoor shows presented at Place d’Youville and Passage Olympia as part of Quebec City Pride are open to everyone, regardless of age. No ID is required to enter — only if you want to access bar services.

solidarity march

How can I participate in the solidarity march?

The Solidarity March will begin at 13h. on Sunday, August 31, at Place d’Youville. We recommend arriving a bit early to soak in the atmosphere and join the movement from the very first steps.

No registration is required — just show up as a supporter, ally, or community member standing for 2SLGBTQ+ rights. We encourage you to march with friends and loved ones, and to honor the spirit of the event: visibility, advocacy, and collective pride.

Can I know the march route in advance?

For security reasons, the march route is not publicly released. However, you can expect it to pass through Old Québec. Both the start and end point is Place d’Youville.

Why is the solidarity march important?

Because it brings us back to the core of what Pride really is.

At its heart, Pride is a riot — a movement defending the rights of 2SLGBTQ+ people.

It’s a reminder that the fight for the rights of sexually and gender-diverse people is ongoing and that these rights are not guaranteed. It’s a powerful and unifying moment that brings visibility and solidarity to 2SLGBTQ+ communities, supported by allies.

My company or organization would like to participate. How do we register?

The Quebec City Pride’s Solidarity March is not a parade or commercial event. To maintain its spirit, promotional displays and distribution of branded material are not permitted.

That said, we warmly invite companies, political parties, and organizations to join as individual citizens showing support for 2SLGBTQ+ communities. No registration is necessary to participate in the march.

If your team wants to represent your organization during Quebec City Pride, we encourage you to take part in the Community Day instead.

security & atmosphere

Is Quebec City Pride only for 2SLGBTQ+ people?

Not at all. While it’s a celebration of 2SLGBTQ+ communities, it’s also open to allies, families, neighbors, the curious, those questioning, and anyone who wants to celebrate diversity, learn, connect, and support the ongoing fight for inclusion, recognition, and equality.

Quebec City Pride is a space of togetherness — open to anyone willing to celebrate with respect for 2SLGBTQ+ people and their realities.

Can I attend alone?

Yes — and you’ll be warmly welcomed! Fierté de Québec is a safe and inclusive space, whether you come solo or with others.

Many of our volunteers join alone or for the first time, and they often find a welcoming and supportive environment.

Will there be a police presence?

As with any major event in the city, we collaborate with municipal services, including the Quebec City Police Department (SPVQ). On site, security is primarily provided by a private security team.

Will there be rest areas?

Yes! At Place d’Youville, opposite the TD Stage, Carnaval de Québec invites you to visit the Chill Zone — a fun, family-friendly space with misting stations, tables, chairs, and games. Come relax, socialize, and enjoy a playful atmosphere with a nod to our winter traditions… in the heart of summer and in full Pride spirit!

volunteering

I want to get involved as a volunteer. How do I sign up?

It’s easy! Just fill out the volunteer interest form to let us know you’re interested. A second form will be sent to you during the summer to confirm your availability.

Can I volunteer with family or friends?

Yes! Each person must fill out their own form, but you can note who you’d like to be paired with in the comments section at the end.

Is there a minimum number of hours required to volunteer?

Nope — there’s no required minimum. Just let us know your availability in the form and we’ll work with that!

I’m coming alone and/or I’m a bit shy… What do you do to help people like me feel included?

Every year, Quebec City Pride welcomes volunteers from all walks of life — many of whom arrive alone or feeling a bit nervous. We prioritize warm welcomes, inclusive teams, and a friendly environment that makes it easy to connect with others. You don’t need to be outgoing to feel at home.
If you’d like to be paired with someone, just let us know in the form.

We also hold a volunteer meet-up a few weeks before the event — a great opportunity to break the ice and ask questions!

Let’s keep in touch, all year long
